Chakra balancing sessions: what they are, how they work, and what to expect

A woman sits on the floor of her bedroom in lotus pose with one hand on her stomach and the other on her chest. Her eyes are closed and an overlay of the chakras are shown over he body.

There's a certain kind of stuck that's hard to explain. It's not always a crisis, but it definitely disrupts your life.

Sometimes it's a pattern that keeps showing up in your relationships no matter how much work you've done. Sometimes it's a quiet disconnection from yourself, from your spiritual practice, from a sense of purpose that used to feel clear. Or just a heaviness you've been carrying around and can't quite locate the source of.

You know something's off, you just don't know what.

A chakra balancing session is one of the most direct ways I know to work with that. But before I explain what a session looks like, there's something I want to clear up first, because I think it changes everything about how you approach this kind of healing.

Why balancing your chakras might not be enough

The word chakra comes from Sanskrit and means "wheel" or "circle." In ancient Indian spiritual traditions, including the Vedas, chakras are described as the body's primary energy centers. Most teachings work with seven main chakras, running from the base of the spine to the crown of the head, each connected to different aspects of our physical, emotional, and spiritual lives.

Here's the thing, though. A lot of people think their chakras are the problem. "I always have a depleted sacral chakra," someone might say. "I get it balanced and then a few weeks later it's off again." And they wonder why nothing seems to stick.

It's because the chakra isn't the problem, it just happens to be reflecting one.

Think of your chakras like a weather app. You can open it and see what's happening: where there's turbulence, where things are calm, where a storm might be moving in. But the app isn't the reason for the storm.

What I offer in an energy healing session is more than simply clearing and aligning your chakras, although it does include that. I also use your chakras as a diagnostic tool to get to the root of what's actually going on underneath.

How do you know your chakras need balancing?

Some people do come into a session with an awareness of which chakras feel blocked or off to them, and that's genuinely helpful. But that's less common than you might think. For most of us, we just know something feels off without being able to pinpoint exactly where.

Here's some of what I hear most often:

  • The same dynamics keep showing up in relationships, no matter how much inner work you've done

  • There's an emotional heaviness or flatness with no clear explanation

  • Life feels directionless, like the sense of purpose you had has gone quiet

  • You feel spiritually disconnected, even if you have a practice you love

  • You're carrying something you can't seem to put down, no matter what you've tried

These experiences often point to blocks or imbalances in the energy field that talk therapy, journaling, or other healing modalities alone can't fully reach. That's not a criticism of any of those practices. Energy healing complements them beautifully. And for a lot of people, it ends up being the missing piece, the thing that finally moves something that nothing else could.

What happens when you book a session with me?

Every session starts with a conversation where I invite you to share what's most present for you today, what's weighing on your heart.

Sometimes what brings you here is exactly what we'll work on. Other times, something else is more alive in that moment. Both are welcome.

As we talk, keep in mind that I am receiving information on more than one level. I am of course listening to what you're saying, but there are other channels I'm picking up as well: your energy signature, what I'm sensing in your field, and what your guides are conveying to me. A lot of this is what is commonly known as claircognizance, or clear knowing.

Claircognizance is different from clairvoyance, which is clear seeing. With claircognizance, I don't see images. I know things. Information arrives without a logical explanation, and it guides the entire session. Through it, I can sense where blocks or excesses exist in your energy field.

The clearing itself

Once I have a sense of where your energy needs attention, the work begins.

There's a sweeping and combing quality to it. I move through your energy field, clearing what no longer belongs there: old emotional residue, energetic signatures from past experiences, thought patterns you've largely moved past but haven't fully shed. Some of it has been there a long time, some of it is more recent, and I am guided on behalf of your team as to what is ready to be released.

I also work to bring balance between your chakras. Some are undercharged, running low. Others carry an excess, too much activation in one place. Neither feels good, and both affect how you move through your life. We're working toward harmony across the whole system.

And then there's light language.

Light language is one of the gifts I've been given through Spirit. It's a sacred form of transmission that I've been shown by my guides, and it's inherent to my higher self. For some guests, it's the most noticeable part of the session.

In person

When we work together in person, you'll have the option to lie comfortably on a healing table or remain seated, whichever works best for you. You don't need to do anything except receive. I'll work with your energy field, sometimes with hands hovering, sometimes through presence alone, guided by what I'm sensing throughout.

Virtually

Distance healing is just as effective as in-person work. Energy isn't limited by physical proximity, and many of my guests experience equally profound shifts during remote virtual sessions. You'll need a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax and receive. We'll connect briefly before we begin.

What will I feel?

This is the question I get most often, and for good reason. We're all curious about what to expect when we try something new. Everyone experiences something unique during a session, and all of it is normal, all of it is part of the process.

During a session, guests often notice warmth or tingling in the body, sometimes deep relaxation, and even falling asleep is really common. If your higher self or spiritual team feels it would serve you better to be asleep during the session, that is honored.

Some guests experience emotional releases: tears, laughter, a wave of something moving through. Others see vivid colors or mental images, people, places, scenes. Some describe a sense of floating, of being gently expanded beyond themselves.

And some people experience what feels like nothing at all, and that is just as normal. This doesn't mean the session wasn't effective. It simply means you weren't in tune to the subtle energy happening at that time, but it does not mean that nothing happened or that you are disconnected in any way.

Energy healing is a subtle and powerful experience, and oftentimes you are processing that change over the following days, weeks, or even months.

After a session, most guests say they feel lighter, clearer, more like themselves. But also be prepared for your life to begin shifting in accordance with your higher self and the vibration you will now be holding. The people and things that are meant to be in your life will come in, and the people and things you no longer need may begin to fall away. When you align yourself with your higher self and your higher purpose, you embody more of your true self. That is the real work.

How many sessions will I need?

This is something I get asked often, and the honest answer is that it depends. But here's what I want you to understand about how this work actually unfolds.

As a practitioner, I think of myself as a witness, a midwife to your process, not the source of your healing. Everything that happens in a session unfolds in alignment with your higher self, your guides, and your ancestors. I create the conditions. The healing is yours.

Sometimes, after years of doing the work, what we need is a skilled conduit to help us finally shed what's ready to leave. One session can shift something real.

I once worked with a woman over two or three sessions who came in feeling lost, disconnected from her deeper purpose. After the first session she was noticeably more herself. By the third, the work felt complete. Years later she reached out to tell me she had left her teaching career, opened a healing arts collective, continued her own energy healing training, and was busy building a community of like-minded souls! Her ancestors had been so present in those sessions, so ready to give her what had always been hers. It was so clearly her path. She just needed help clearing the way.

I will never encourage you to book more sessions than feel right. In fact, I consider it a success when a guest no longer needs to see me regularly because the work is done.

Some questions I hear often

How is the energy healing you offer different from Reiki?

Reiki is a beautiful and well-established energy healing modality, and like what I practice, it works with the body's energy field. Both are wonderful. The difference is in how the energy is accessed and what gifts are brought to the session.

Reiki draws from the lineage and energy of its founder, Mikao Usui, which is meaningful and powerful in its own right. What I practice connects directly to source energy and universal consciousness as it exists now, which continues to expand and evolve beyond any single lineage or time.

I also bring my own gifts of Spirit into each session: claircognizance, or clear knowing, and light language, along with multiple lifetimes of doing this work. This allows me to work intuitively and responsively with what's actually present for you in that moment, rather than following a fixed protocol. It isn't that one approach is better. They're simply drawing from different wells.

Do I need to believe in energy healing for it to work?

You don't need to arrive with any specific belief system. What I ask of guests is simply an openness to receive. Your higher self and your guides are present and guiding what's best for you, whether or not you fully understand what that means yet.

Can energy healing be done virtually?

Yes, and virtual energy healing is just as effective. All you need is a quiet space and a willingness to receive.

If something here resonated with you

Maybe you recognized yourself in the stuck, or the disconnected, or the pattern you can't quite break. Maybe something about what I described made you curious about what might be ready to shift in your own life.

Sessions are available in person at my healing space in the Issaquah, Washington area and remotely, wherever you are. I'd love to hear what you're carrying.
